        Ultrasonic cleaning sometimes uses low power and takes a long time but still fails to remove dirt. And if the power reaches a certain value, the dirt will be removed very quickly. If the selected power is too high, the cavitation intensity will increase significantly. The cleaning effect is improved, but at this time, more precise parts will also develop corrosion points. Moreover, the cavitation of the vibration plate at the bottom of the cleaning machine is severe, and the water point corrosion also increases. When using organic solvents such as trichloroethylene, there is basically no problem, but when using water or water-soluble cleaning solutions, it is prone to water point corrosion. If the surface of the vibration plate has been damaged, the cavitation corrosion at the bottom of the water will be more severe under high power. Therefore, the ultrasonic power should be selected according to the actual usage situation.  

        Frequency selection

        The ultrasonic cleaning frequency ranges from 28kHz to 120kHz. When using water or water-based cleaning agents, the physical cleaning force caused by cavitation is obviously more favorable for low frequencies. Generally, around 28 to 40kHz is used. For cleaning parts with small gaps, narrow slits and deep holes, high frequency (generally above 40kHz) is better, and even several hundred kHz. When cleaning watch parts, use 100kHz. If wideband frequency modulation cleaning is used, the effect will be even better.  

        The use of the cleaning basket

        When cleaning small parts and items, a mesh basket is often used. Special attention should be paid as the mesh can cause ultrasonic attenuation. When the frequency is 28khz, it is better to use a mesh size of 10mm or more.  

        Temperature of the cleaning solution

        The most suitable cleaning temperature for water cleaning solution is 40-60℃. Especially in cold weather, if the temperature of the cleaning solution is low, the cavitation effect will be poor and the cleaning effect will also be poor. Therefore, some cleaning machines wrap heating wires around the outside of the cleaning tank for temperature control. When the temperature rises, cavitation is prone to occur, so the cleaning effect is better. When the temperature continues to rise, the gas pressure inside the bubble increases, causing the impact sound pressure to drop and the effect to weaken. Organic solvent cleaning solutions should be used for cleaning at temperatures close to their boiling points.

        It is generally advisable for the liquid level of the cleaning solution to be more than 100mm above the surface of the vibrator. Due to the influence of the standing wave field on the single-frequency cleaning machine, the amplitude at the nodes is very small and the amplitude at the amplitudes is large, resulting in uneven cleaning. Therefore, the best choice for cleaning items should be placed at the amplitude. (Effective range: 3-18 cm)

These are all prerequisites for deciding on the cleaning method to be used and determining whether to use water-based cleaning solutions or solvents. Only in this way can a suitable cleaning system, a reasonably designed cleaning process and cleaning solution be provided. Considering the influence of the physical properties of the cleaning solution on ultrasonic cleaning, among them, vapor pressure, surface tension, viscosity and density should be the most significant influencing factors. Temperature can affect these factors, so it also influences the efficiency of cavitation. Any cleaning system must use cleaning solution.
